About Us
Our team serves the northern communities of the City of Kawartha Lakes – hence our name, the Kawartha North Family Health Team (FHT).
Family Health Teams are a key component of the Ontario Government's plan to build a health care system that delivers on three priorities – keeping Ontarians healthy, reducing wait times, and providing better access to doctors and nurses.
As a community-led FHT, our team is steered by a volunteer board of directors composed of local residents and is managed by a full-time executive director. The kinds of care we provide include:
- Primary health care by physicians and nurse practitioners
- Phlebotomy (blood-work & lab) services
- Mental health support services & counselling
- Diabetes education
- Nutrition counselling
- Sponsorship for other community health workshops
At the Kawartha North FHT, we understand that dependable access to high-quality health care is vital to a community’s well-being and its economy. We are committed to providing and evolving a long-term framework for health care delivery that meets the ongoing needs of our patients.
